Clemson’s Watson walking to the NFL

“I think it’s my time to go, just kind of end it with a bang.”

Clemson star quarterback Deshaun Watson capped an incredible college career by winning a national championship and beating Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide. After the win, Watson declared for the NFL draft.

Which begs the question: Where in the NFL would Watson be the best fit?

Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith thinks Watson could go 1, 2 or 3 in the draft:

Some see him as a first overall pick to the Browns, and if not there, then possibly second overall to the 49ers or third overall to the Bears. Others think that in Clemson’s offense, he hasn’t developed into the kind of pocket passer NFL teams want. Not everyone thinks he’s a first-round pick, let alone a first overall pick.

Bleacher Report’s Rob Goldberg sees Watson as the 2nd overall pick to the 49ers.

CBS Sports’ Rob Rang and Dane Brugler predict Watson will go 6th to the Jets.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller questions Watson’s ability to excel at the next level:

The Chicago Tribune’s David Haugh thinks the Bears need to be careful with Watson and their No. 3 overall pick:

To make the leap that he looked like a quarterback worthy of being picked third overall in the NFL draft, though, would risk getting swept away in the moment — which desperate teams like the Bears have been known to do annually.

Cleveland.com’s Doug Lesmeries seems more than ready for Watson to arrive in the Mistake by the Lake:

Watson really is ready for this. He gave off that impression all week before Clemson played Ohio State in a College Football Playoff semifinal in the Fiesta Bowl. A five-star recruit, Watson has been front-and-center in the expectation game for three seasons. He’s been plotting this NFL move, even graduating early while knowing he’d leave Clemson after three years.

He’s not perfect. But he is the complete package. I spoke with Clemson quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter for 20 minutes in Arizona, not about what Watson could do to the Buckeyes, but what he could do in the NFL.

But maybe Watson should think twice before heading to the Browns:

What do you think? Which NFL team would be the best fit for Watson?
